Monetary prizes awarded for the best essays

On the occasion of two significant anniversaries, namely the 5-year celebration of May 5, known as the Day of the Macedonian Language, and the 70th anniversary of the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov,” the “ZAEV – One Society for All” Foundation has graciously supported the commemorative activities. This support follows the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute and the Foundation.

As previously announced, our Foundation has provided a total prize fund of 135,000 denars to reward the top essays in the Competition by the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov.” The awards were distributed across nine authors, with three prizes allocated for each of the three categories. The names of the recipients were revealed on May 5, the Day of the Macedonian Language, and the awards ceremony will be conducted as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov.”

The winners of the awards have been determined by three expert jury committees, one dedicated to each category. The recipients are as follows:

  • For the best essay among university students, centered on the topic “What we have done and what we have yet to do for the Macedonian language,” Despina Bucevska from the Faculty of Philology “Blaze Koneski” – UKIM claimed the first prize of 25,000 denars. Elena Nikoloska from FINKI secured the second prize of 20,000 denars, while Sandra Gjordjieva from UDG “Goce Delchev” was awarded the third prize of 15,000 denars.
  • For the best essay among high school students, with the theme “Our language today,” Irina Prosheva from “Josif Josifovski” secondary school in Gevgelija emerged as the winner of the first prize, amounting to 20,000 denars. Danica Levkova from “Slavcho Stojmenski” secondary school in Shtip claimed the second prize of 15,000 denars, and Katerina Kambova from “Dimitar Vlahov” secondary school in Strumica was honored with the third prize of 10,000 denars.
  • For the best essay among elementary school students, centered on the topic “Our language today,” Luisa Gonev Chashule from OOU “Johan Heinrich Pestalozzi” in Skopje secured the first prize of 15,000 denars. Elena Bozinovska from OOU “Kocho Racin” in Kumanovo attained the second prize of 10,000 denars, while Mila Karaivanova from OOU “Goce Delchev” in Skopje received the third prize of 5,000 denars.

In addition to the monetary prizes provided by our Foundation, the authors of the outstanding essays will also receive book prizes from the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov.”

The “ZAEV – One Society for All” Foundation extends its heartfelt congratulations to the selected students and wishes them continued success in their education and commitment to nurturing the Macedonian language. We also congratulate the esteemed members of the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov” on their 70th anniversary. May they persist in their dedication to the Macedonian language and remain unwavering in their efforts to promote, popularize, and advance its significance.

Our Foundation takes great pride in our founder, Zoran Zaev, who has consistently fostered exceptionally positive relations with the Macedonian Language Institute “Krste Misirkov” since his tenure as mayor and president of the Government, continuing until today. Moreover, as the Prime Minister during the year when the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia declared May 5 as the Day of the Macedonian Language, his steadfast support demonstrates the preservation, nurturing, and promotion of the Macedonian language as a living and enduring testament to our existence. These pursuits remain foundational objectives of the “ZAEV – One Society for All” Foundation.
