Oil (pelivan) wrestling (gyuresh) is one of the oldest traditional Macedonian sports that preserves a centuries-old practice of open-air wrestling, enriched with many other authentic cultural elements. To ensure the survival of this important tradition, it is essential to offer continuous support so that the love and respect for the sport can be passed on to younger generations.

This year, just as in the previous one, the “ZAEV – One Society for All” Foundation espoused the “Freskozivopisie” Association from Kuklish. In collaboration with the local church “St. Atanasie,” the association organized the traditional oil wrestling tournament in the village. The event was held on May 15 as part of the celebrations marking the feast day of Kuklish – St. Athanasius.

We sincerely hope our donation contributed to the successful organization of the tournament and to the continued affirmation and popularization of oil wrestling. Our foundation remains committed to supporting similar initiatives that promote and preserve Macedonian sports and cultural heritage.
